Wrongful Deaths Within Texas
In the event of a wrongful death, the person or party responsible for causing the death can be held legally responsible. This may be through a civil lawsuit brought by the surviving family members of the deceased, seeking damages for their loss. In some cases, the responsible party may also face criminal charges, depending on the circumstances of the death. In a wrongful death lawsuit, the burden of proof is on the plaintiff to show that the defendant's actions or inaction caused the death and that the death resulted in damages. If the plaintiff is successful in proving their case, they may be awarded financial compensation to cover expenses such as medical bills, funeral costs, and loss of future income. This brings to light the importance of having adequate legal representation in order to influence the best outcome within your case.
