Triple Fatality in Grand Prairie on East Bound I-30 Feb 18th
In the early morning hours at approximately 12:50 AM on February 18, 2022, a tragedy occurred on eastbound Interstate 30 near Belt Line Road when a Ford occupied by a lone driver traveled into the wrong lane and smashed into a vehicle carrying two passengers reported CBS news. Grand Prairie police and emergency services rapidly responded to the situation. Unfortunately, all three of the occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene upon the first responder’s arrival at the crash zone.
According to the National Safety Council, less than one-quarter of all driving that takes place happens at night. Despite the lack of time on roads during nighttime hours, night driving accounts for over 40% of all fatal car accidents. This is due to a variety of factors including poor visibility from streetlights, and the headlights of a car not being strong enough to see dangers on the road until it is too late. Also, statistics show that 2/3 of all motor vehicle fatalities that occurred between 12 AM and 3 AM are related to drunken or impaired driving which adds a massive risk to getting on the road in those late hours. Impairment also includes drug usage or even exhaustion from a long day, which could lead to drivers sleeping at the wheel.

Investigation into the Crash Continues
Currently, the crash is still under investigation by Grand Prairie Police Department. Much of the information regarding the make and models of the vehicles, along with the driver’s physical and mental state at the time of the incident has not been revealed to the public.
