Mass Casualty Pileup Due to Icy Weather - Fort Worth, TX
On the morning of February 11, 2021, dozens of 18-wheelers and vehicles were involved in a massive pileup on I35W near Yucca Avenue in Fort Worth. Icy conditions were widely reported in the metroplex. Hours after the incident, emergency personnel were still working to extricate injuried people. Reports state as many as 100 vehicles were part of this devastating crash. A Mass Causalty Incident was declared and Interstate 35 was shut down. A high capacity amulance bus vehicle was on the scene to assist with the many injuries and a family reunification location was set up for families to reunite with loved ones at the Riverside Center.
